A PEK Reliever Airport as Cargo Hub & Aviation Industry Magnet

Final Master Plan of Proposed PEK Reliever Airport & Surrounding Vicinity

SAAN recently completed a master plan for a proposed airport on the eastern outskirts of Beijing. Located about 47 KM (28 miles) east of Beijing Capital Airport PEK, this airport will be a reliever airport for the Beijing PEK airport. It will also serve as a cargo hub airport for the vast economic regions of Beijing, Hebei, and Tianjin due to its strategic location of the three. Furthermore, it will supplement PEK in general aviation, aviation manufacturing, aviation training, aviation sports, and leisure.

SAAN designed two parallel runways and associated taxiways, apron space for (205) aircraft parking stands, and a total of 1,390,000 square meters of airport building facilities. The master-planned airport is classified as 4E, and has a capacity of annual 120,000 operations for the year 2045. The master plan also designed about 5,850,000 square meters of other building facilities as compatible land uses for the surrounding parcels immediately outside of the airport including aviation industry parks, logistics parks, a comprehensive bonded zone, and a freight rail intermodal center.
