Beihang University, previously known as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, abbreviated as BUAA or Beihang, is a major public research university located in northwestern Beijing, China. Its campus was originally built in 1953 and has a total of 3000 Chinese acres (about 2 million square meters) in land area. This project is to improve several large tracts of common green areas on campus, as indicated in the red highlighted areas below.

The first area is the largest green park on campus. It has over 5400 trees of more than 200 species. There is a natural existing pond, for which we designed a filtering system to enhance water quality and maintain biological balance. In the center point, we proposed a marble fountain plaza, with angled and retracting water sprays washing the edges of the plaza, which is controlled by a central timer. Up against the south hill bordering the plaza, we added sitting walls as places for spectators and as an outdoor study and social gathering place.

The second area is the most important open space on campus. It is the entry plaza for the East Main Entry of the campus. we proposed using dark and light pavers to add direction patterns emphasizing the focal effect of the main building. A white marble wall will display the school motto and strengthen the axial effect of the main entry boulevard. We added more evergreen trees in the formal gardens on both sides of the boulevard.

For the courtyard inside the research quad buildings, we added a water fountain and pond and resurfaced cross walkways with contrasting materials and colors, maintaining the north-south primary axis of the quad.
