This is a software technology business park in Dalian developed by China’s IT company SoftStone Co. The hilly 16-hectare (about 242 Chinese mu) site has terrain with drop-ups up to 40 meters from south to north. The site is bounded to the north and northwest by both light-rail train tracks and a highway. There is a drainage valley towards the northern part of the site. The planned roads divide the site into three parcels.
SAAN’s site plan uses courtyards as nodes for community activities, open space, and greenery. The drainage valley is developed into a community park. Buildings are placed at different elevations to take advantage of the hilly terrains and increase site utilization ratio and environmental quality. Different building types with different functionalities are grouped accordingly, and some are combined into complementary pairs for cooperation and interaction.
The architectural style borrows elements from Dalian’s colonial period and emphasizes verticality, solidity, prosperity, and richness. As a result, the overall IT technology campus rises with the slopes, blends well with the surrounding hills, and forms a perfect organic whole.
The Phase 2 construction work was completed in the summer of 2018.
