The Pandemic has increased the need for healthy and active lifestyles inside neighborhoods and urban communities. World Health Organization reports 70% percent of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050. As global urbanization continues, mixed-use projects will evolve. Post-pandemic, cities will be faced with housing shortages, workplace flexibility, and healthy lifestyle demand for residents. Developers, planners, and architects are tasked to promote an active lifestyle inside neighborhoods and communities and provide better overall health outcomes on projects. SAAN is currently designing such a project on one of the most desirable sites in Hohhot Inner Mongolia.
This project, the United Harmony Tower as it is named, will set a new standard for mixed-use development in one particular area: enabling healthy and active lifestyles right inside communities. In addition to commonly seen amenities such as street-level shops, public gardens, a shopping mall, a hotel, office, and residential, this project will include a state-of-the-art exercise, health, and fitness gymnasium. This gymnasium is contained in the center of the multi-use tower and will work as its beating heart. The Harmony Gym will have a basketball court, six racket ball courts, cardio and aerobic rooms, and a large rock climbing hall. It will also have an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a complete jogging trail that will span four levels and connect all these facilities. The project will provide a vibrant, transit-oriented, intimate, and sociable mixed-use facility for the urban Hohhot.
